Keep your ears open, kids. This sh*t is good! January 12 - Why hasn't this happened here yet? Do I need to move to Sweden?:
from Billboard:
A group of Swedish file sharers announced Jan. 1 that it is starting a new political party, the Piracy Party, to provide a legal environment for exchanging copyrighted property for free. Spokesman Sebastian Sjalin claims Piracy Party represents Sweden's 800,000 file sharers who are 'tired of being called criminals.' The manifesto promises to alter existing intellectual property legislation and prevent implementation of the December 2005 European Union Data Retention directive. The Piracy Party needs only 1500 signatures to become a formally recognized political party.

January 6
- Happy 2006! Great new projects coming soon! More later.....

December 27
- Check out videos from The Amino Acids and Guajiro! Have a Happy New Year!!!

December 7
- Check out SSM!

December 1
- OK, it's the holidays season now, but DON'T FORGET to check out the releases from On Ensemble and The Gunshy. The Gunshy's Souls is due out Dec 6, and if you like good, honest, humble troubadour rock with a shot of whiskey, you will love it. The Gunshy is going to be on SPIN.com very soon, so keep an eye out. On Ensemble's Dust and Sand is due out Dec 20. If you don't know about taiko, you need to learn. You've probably seen people playing large drums with wooden sticks on car commercials and the like, but On Ensemble is not your typical taiko ensemble: they have incorporated fascinating lyrics and modern technology into their music. Go to the mp3 page and listen to these and more. Also, and this is only for the sake of my google search. My name is Becki Carr, in case you didn't know. That's Becki Carr. Becki with an "i." Becki Carr from Yarrr! PR. OK, take it easy everyone, and remember: you can't roller skate in a buffalo herd.

Nov 9
- This morning, PopMatters posted one of the best reviews I've ever read: The Dials - Flex Time

Nov 2 - Wow it's been a while, eh? (Crap, I've been living too close to Canada for too long.)This weekend I won a costume contest at Alvin's; I was a pirate, of course. No, I don't have photos. I was too drunk to remember my camera. The next night, I went to the Magic Stick to see local bands The Avatars, Grande Nationals, The Nice Device, and many others play a benefit for The Dials - it was heartwarming and fun. I even heard a beyond-creepy pick-up line, but it turns out it was just part of a costume.

Sept 29
- I guess since everyone and their moms have done their CMJ recaps, I'll do mine. I stayed with my friend Mary, who was an extra gracious hostess. On my walk from her place to the shows, I saw a funny sign. I went to see what has turned out to be Troubled Hubble's last pre-breakup show, and thankfully, not knowing what was to come, I had a fantastic time. My friend Marianne was there taking some rad photos (that's her on the right). I tried to avoid industry functions as much as possible and just see where lady luck took me; during the day I walked around the city. I saw the site of the WTC tragedy and the oldest public building in Manhattan. I did a lot of subway riding and took a walk through Central Park. My nightlife was much wilder, but I don't have pictures of that, so sorry! I will tell you I went to CBGB and Manitoba's and Pussycat Lounge: it was debaucherous. Oh, I almost forgot - the view from where I was staying was FREAKING AWESOME day and night! When I got back to Detroit, I hit the ground running as "they" say - I saw The Amino Acids and got pushed into a drumset, which was actually pretty hilarious, and a tame incident compared to the rest of their set. I also moved into a NEW office! I'm taking votes on whether to call it the Captain's Quarters or The Poop Deck. Comments are welcome. Last but not least there are new MP3s up!!!

Visit Yarrr! PR's message board

Sept 19 - HAPPY TALK LIKE A PIRATE DAY!!!

September 7 - Yarrr! PR is crazy busy with all kinds of amazing music from ska to taiko and all kinds of rock in between!!! Check out the clients page for more! Are you going to CMJ? Let me know!

August 3-
Hang on for lots of news! Firstly the Dials' Flex Time campaign has officially begun; the music is AMAZING so check it out! Secondly The Evil Queens have added tons new tour dates, so check out the live shows page to see if they're coming near you. Thirdly, The Gunshy is almost finished recording his new album, Souls, and a little bird told me so far it sounds spine-chillingly good. Last but not least, The Amino Acids' Destroy The Warming Sun is also on its way to being a big hit, so if you're a writer, check your mail for some good alien surf punk!

July 18-
Please keep The Dials in your thoughts. They lost three dear friends in a tragic car accident in Chicago last week; John Glick was husband to singer Becky and member of the Returnables, Michael Dahlquist was a member of Silkworm and a very close friend to the band, and Doug Meis was The Dials' amazingly talented drummer. Rest in peace, Doug. Music will miss you.... [ps- if you knit, and you'd like to do something in memoriam, please visit this link.]

July 10-
July is here and it's hot. This Friday Yarrr! PR had the amazing experience of finally seeing The Evil Queens live! You won't believe it but in the middle of the set - a fight broke out over a giant Patrick Swayze head..?! (Your guess is as good as mine!) And this weekend I will be in Chicago for Intonation Festival. I get to hang out with some fantastic musicians, The Gunshy and The Dials. Keep your ears out for albums from them very soon....

June 23 - Holy cow it's summer! With summertime comes lots of live shows and festivals and such. See The Evil Queens' and The Muggs' live shows here. Keep your eyes out for new releases from Latest Flame Records... more on that later. In the meantime, keep yourselves busy with ice cream and cold beer, and come visit me in Detroit! By the way, anyone going to Chicago for the Intonation Festival? Let me know!

May 25
- It's almost June, and if you haven't listened to Andi Camp's new album Magnetic yet (officially released July 12 but available online), you need to, because it's the most beautiful thing you'll hear in 2005. It's also been rumored that Yarrr! PR will join forces with Addison Records to promote the upcoming release of The Evil Queen's First It Boils, Then It Spills, but you'll have to suppress your urges until later to hear this one. Don't forget to go buy the debut, eponymous album from The Muggs (feat. Danny Methric of The Paybacks) on July 19! You are also earnestly encouraged to buy the new issue of Tastes Like Chicken. Last but certainly not least, a friendly plug for Troubled Hubble- their guitarist designed this site for me, and the band is about to go on an amazing tour, so check them out!

May 1 - Yarrr! PR is mourning the loss of a great man, Mr Hasil Adkins. If you don't know who he is, go find some of his music and read up on this rockabilly multi-instrumentalist legend. You can read more at his website. In the meantime, check out Andi Camp's music. Rock.

April 26 - Hi, everyone! As you may know, I am in the
process of setting up this whole shebang... (Why hasn't the government sent my approval letter yet?!).... But I finally have my first client, Andi Camp - she is an AMAZING pianist and songwriter with a smooth, jazzy voice from Portland, OR. You may have heard her latest split with We're From Japan! The newest release, Magnetic, will be available soon.... more details to follow!!! In the meantime, "keep your stick on the ice"!

April 18 - Hello, and welcome to my new website!
