The Amino Acids Destroy The Warming Sun November 1, 2005
When was the last time you saw a band
on stage who not only literally worship a guy named Bob,
but also musically worship artists like Black Sabbath, Dick
Dale, The Misfits, and Devo? When was the last time you
saw a band wearing all black except for white molten “protective
outer skin” aka “POS” (which looks suspiciously
like white smiling masks with white pantyhose) over their
heads like they’re about to steal your beer and you’re
going to like it? Never, you say?! Then you obviously haven’t
been to an Amino Acids show yet, and you’re missing
out!
The good news is, the second best thing
to seeing The Amino Acids live is hearing their incredible
Theremin-fueled, Church-of-the-Subgenius-inspired, alien
surf punk rock right in your very own home, office, or car.
Enter the album, The Amino
Acid’s Destroy The Warming Sun.
You’ll be in a whole other place
even before the first 30 seconds pass: A woman’s voice
states, “Now it’s very presumptuous of us to
believe that Martians are going to be any different than
we are. It’s merely a freak in their genetic code
that has brought them to this planet. And I’m sure
they don’t plan to harm us… at least not yet,”
and you are immediately assaulted with drums, surf-ish guitars,
and a screeching Theremin. By the time “Lost Coordinate”
begins, you’re in a happily vegetative state, or planet,
whichever you prefer.
This is the new soundtrack
to your freaky life.
Some ask, “Where did The Amino
Acids come from?” Well, they claim to be from worlds
like Kryon 7 and Jurtnet 2, but we first found their Theremin
charmer, Ambassador Chuck Bronson, in Detroit a few years
ago using his favorite pick-up line at The Magic Stick:
“Hey, Doll. Is this guy boring you? Why don’t
you come and talk to me. I’m from a different planet!”
The other Aminos laughed so hard they later decided put
that line in their song “Cycles-Pin.”
Since The Amino Acids have been a band,
they have been frightening and exciting their audiences
across the Midwest, playing clubs and Subgenius Devivals
for several years now. Hopefully soon they will be in a
town near you. Maybe you’ll see them “Bowling
in Roswell” (also the title of the album’s penultimate
song) within the next few months. Until then, though….
